My finished projects and purchases

There are lots of different projects I am working on at the moment and every time I finish one I am very happy with myself.
The first one is table and chairs for Heidi’s bedroom. Months ago we bought a table and chairs from Ikea’s bargain corner. I recently pained it in a lovely butter cup colour by Dulux and fixed on the top a lovely oilcloth by Cath Kidston.
I also bought a cupboard from a local antique/junk shop. I lined the inside with wrapping paper from Cath Kidston and now it is my favourite piece of furniture in the house.
On Valentine’s Day we went to Henley on Thames and found the best antique shop I have ever seen. It is more like a reclamation yard. I bought lovely candelabra (picture later) and Victorian tiles which you can see below.
Apart from junk shops and antique places i very often visit charity shops and recently I got these pink, beautiful jugs. Love it!!

Kirstie Allsopp - someone very inspiring

I absolutely loved Kirstie's "Hand made home" and her "Home made Christmas". Seeing all the crafts and pretty things being made was such a pleasure to watch. I am so looking forward to more.

Tingewick and Cath Kidston - the past

5 years ago we bought a cottage in the pritiest villages I have ever seen. Tingewick is not far from Bicester - a home to Cath Kindston's outlet shop.
When we moved into our house I did not know Cath K but very quickly she became my inspiration. I could spend hours in her shop looking at all the little things she displays. I have recently been to the one in Windsor and it is the best one I have ever seen.
Just going back to Tingewick and our little cottage.....we did so much work to it, lovingly restored it. Few ohotos...sorry no furniture as the pictures were taken on the day we were moving out. I will try to find some older shots.

My first day on my blog

Yesterday after work I picked up a lovely, Victorian, internal door for our new house. An American lady advertised it on freecycle which I started checking each morning. There is always something interesting but you need to be quick.
The door is solid pine painted in white and needs a lots of LOVE, I will strip the pain off it and put up in our kitchen.
We bought our Victorian town house in October 2009– got used to the word “town house” now – I used to say cottage but it is not a cottage. The ceiling are the highest ceiling I have ever seen in a house. The rooms are big, light and spacious. The whole house feels very airy and fresh. Needs a lot of TLC and money but myself and my husband are very hard working, creative people who are passionate about making the new house our cosy home. The only thing is that we both work full time and hardly ever get a chance to do anything in our house. We moved in at the beginning of November 2009 after having a wall knocked down between two reception rooms. As it is a terraced house we think it was the right thing to do. Since then we only had the walls painted and furniture bought; most of it second hand but absolutely fantastic.
I posted few photos of how the house looked when we went to view it. Slowly I will be posting photos of changes we make and furniture we refurbish.
